How to ship your tube

Your old tube is the pattern for the new one. Here's how to get it off the hull and into a box.

Sending us your old tube gives us an exact template for your new one. Here is how to remove it and get it to the shop.

Removing the tube

  1. 1

Slide a razor blade under the fiberglass edge and cut only the tape holding the tube to the hull. Do not cut the tube itself.

  2. 2

Work along the top seam, then repeat along the bottom.

  3. 3

Leftover glue and tape strips on the hull do not matter — those get cleaned off later.

  4. 4

On boats with a slide-in track, like many Zodiacs, the tube is not glued. Just slide it off.

  5. 5

Deflate the tube completely, box it, and ship it to Alamar.

  6. 6

If the tube tears or gets cut during removal, that is fine — it is only being used as a template.

Two people make this much faster than one — it usually takes about five minutes per side.
